Interactive 3D WebGL Experience
A 3D WebGL piece with animated chrome letters, a neon grid and warp-speed stars. Move your mouse to pan the camera.
Digital art, animation and interactive WebGL experiments by Erik van de Blaak, including a DOS demo, a 3D globe and the design studies Four and Five.

A 3D WebGL piece with animated chrome letters, a neon grid and warp-speed stars. Move your mouse to pan the camera.

A 3D globe of 2,000 points of light, built with Three.js. Pick the Netherlands, Suriname or England and the globe turns to that country, with a short text.

An MS-DOS simulation with CRT effects and real commands such as DIR, CD, TYPE and HELP. CAROUSEL.EXE breaks the screen into ASCII blocks that turn into a 3D carousel.

A one-page site for a fictional AI and software studio, built in SvelteKit with a custom WebGL shader, smooth scrolling and scroll-driven animation.

A one-page site for a fictional night-photography studio, with a 3D photo wall in three.js, custom shaders and GSAP animation. All images are AI-generated.

A one-page site with a wall of hundreds of tiles cut from four drawings I made myself. Tiles light up as the pixels of letters: first SIX, then "a website by Erik van de Blaak" runs through the wall as a marquee. Built with SvelteKit and Canvas 2D.

A short animated nature film in the browser. In 60 seconds you walk through the rainforest of Suriname, meet the jaguar and hear what it needs. With Dutch narration, subtitles and a map of Suriname. Built with SvelteKit, WebGL and the Web Audio API.

A one-page site for a made-up observatory. A cube of dark crystal turns in a moving night sky. Each face is a portal to its own 3D world and belongs to one section of the page; click it and the camera flies through. Built with SvelteKit, three.js and postprocessing.

A jaguar made of ASCII characters runs through the rainforest of Suriname. The same jungle scrolls through the characters he is made of, slower than outside. Built with Vite, TypeScript, WebGL2 and the Web Audio API.

A top-down commando game for keyboard and mouse. You land in a valley at night by parachute, sneak past 29 guards, searchlights and patrolling vehicles, blow up the radio command centre of a base and escape to the extraction zone. Built with Phaser 3.90, TypeScript and the Web Audio API.
